John "The Magician" Dodson early career highlights!

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is known for producing numerous MMA stars that have gone on to successful careers in the UFC.  John "The Magician" Dodson is already a star and he hasn't been on TUF 14 for more than 2 weeks!

That's because despite being only 27 years old in September, he already has amassed a solid professional record of 11-5.  He is 6-2 in his past eight fights, with his 2 losses being split decisions going the wrong way.  Even more impressive than his record, is the human highlight reel that "The Magician" has already put together.  Regardless of how far Dodson goes on TUF 14, it will be fun to continue to watch his career.

Video from John Dodson's website is after the jump!  Don't blink!

And so begins another Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament!

We are nearing the end of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament, which started all the way back in February (if you can believe it.)  The event was kicked off with a batch of fights, culminating in a Fedor vs. Silva main event that found the once untouchable Fedor being pummeled by the bigger and stronger "Bigfoot" Silva.

It is well over a half a year later now since the tournament fights began and the brackets look nothing like most pundits would have predicted.  Alistar Overeem, the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion at the time the brackets were announced, has left for the UFC (whose parent company Zuffa, LLC owns both Strikeforce and the UFC.)  "The Reem" will face Brock Lesnar in a highly anticpated match-up (that may require some reinforcing of the octagon) at UFC 141Fedor is now riding a 3 fight losing streak, and is also no longer in Strikeforce.

So now while everyone is awaiting the Strikeforce Grand Prix to culminate with a bout between long time MMA veteran Josh Barnett versus Daniel Cormier (an alternate who replaced Overeem, and then went on to knock out "Bigfoot" Silva in his last match), a new company has decided to provide us with their own version of a Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament.

Find out who is taking a gamble on jumping into the Grand Prix business after the jump!

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is headed to Washington D.C. this weekend, but will it be their last trip to the nation's capital?

According to The Washington Post who quoted Reed Harris (UFC vice president of community relations), at a news conference Thursday September 29th, 2011, as saying:

“There are so many elements to where we go and where we do the pay-per-view versus the Versus shows,” Harris said. “I don’t know if the success or failure of an event actually plays into that.”
